    Your Questions, Answered

    FAQโ€™S

When should I book my senior session?

Yearbook photos are typically due in the fall of your senior year, so the best time to schedule your session is the summer before senior year or early fall. Booking early gives you first choice of dates and helps us design a session that reflects your visionโ€”from the locations we choose to the outfits you wear. The earlier we plan, the more intentional (and stress-free) the experience can be.
What can I expect on the day of my session?

Your day starts with a quick morning text from me with reminders and a little encouragement to get you excited. Later, weโ€™ll meet at my home for a relaxed, 1-hour portrait makeup sessionโ€”this is where we connect, go over final details, and get you feeling confident and ready.

From there, weโ€™ll head to your preplanned locations for a 2-hour photo shoot. Weโ€™ll move at a comfortable pace with time built in for outfit changes, different backdrops, and natural posing guidance so you never feel rushed or unsure.

What if Iโ€™m nervous and not photogenic in front of the camera?

Totally normalโ€”most people feel that way at first. But you donโ€™t need to know how to pose. Thatโ€™s what Iโ€™m here for. Iโ€™ll guide you through every step in a way that feels natural, not forced. Before we even start, we take time to connect so you feel relaxed and seen. During your session, Iโ€™ll show you a few shots so you can see how good you actually lookโ€”no over-editing, no heavy filters. Just great light, a little direction, and your real self.

Bring your favorite playlistโ€”Iโ€™ll bring the speaker. Weโ€™ll keep it easy, fun, and better than you imagined.

What happens if the weather isnโ€™t great on the day of my session?

I always build flexibility into my calendar for reschedules due to weather. If itโ€™s raining, too windy or the light isnโ€™t right, weโ€™ll simply move your session to another dayโ€”no stress. Your experience matters too much to settle for โ€œjust okayโ€ conditions.

    Do you offer makeup?

ย Yes! Professional makeup is included in your session ( about an hourโ€”and itโ€™s done by me. I use a lightweight, camera-friendly application that enhances your natural beauty without making you feel overdone however I can do a glam look with lashes too. I also give you pointers on how to recreate the look at home if you fall in love with it!

How many outfits can I bring?

Please bring 3โ€“4 outfits. Iโ€™ll guide you through choosing pieces that photograph well, match your locations, and feel like you. Variety is key, but comfort and confidence come first.

Can I include my best friend, car, pet, sport, or special interest?

Absolutely. These photos should reflect your life and what matters most to you. Just let me know during your pre-session planning call so we can make sure thereโ€™s time and space to include what you love.

When do I see my photos?

You’ll come back for your in-person reveal and ordering appointment about 2 weeks after your shoot. This is when you’ll see your gallery and choose your favorites, and I’ll help you figure out what collection matches how you’d like to enjoy them now and years from now.

What month is best to schedule my sessionโ€”and what kind of background can I expect?

It all depends on the look you want!

    • Spring (Aprโ€“May): Soft greens, fresh blooms, and golden lightโ€”perfect for a light, airy feel.
    • Summer (Junโ€“Aug): Lush fields, wildflowers, and long sunsets. Morning sessions available when itโ€™s hot!
    • Fall (Septโ€“Oct): Cozy textures, rich tones, and golden leaves. These book fast, so donโ€™t wait!

Whatever the season, Iโ€™ll help you choose locations that fit your style and storyโ€”from dreamy fields to bold urban spotsโ€”during your planning call.

What time of day is bestโ€”and what can I expect?
Most sessions start in the late afternoon and go into golden hour (that dreamy, soft light right before sunset). This is the most flattering time for natural lightโ€”it makes your skin glow and gives your photos that warm, natural feel. ( In July and the first party of August afternoon sessions might be a little too toasty so Iโ€™m totally up for early morning sessions.)
I donโ€™t usually wear much makeup and Iโ€™m nervous about someone else doing it. Can we skip that part?
Makeup is a non-negotiable part of the session because it helps me connect with you and capture your genuine smile. If youโ€™re experienced with your makeup and know what you love for your lashes and brows, please bring your products. I want to spend time with you getting readyโ€”itโ€™s a chance to break the ice and make you feel comfortable before we start, so your smile truly comes from the heart.
